NEWS

If only the human News would be like my cat News, then we certainly would have a better world.

Besides the fact that the weather is so disgusting that Rosie just goes out for her little business, while Grandpa Arthur prefers to stay inside. I think he feels insecure now when he goes out, as he is deaf and can't defend himself against other cats or quickly run away. Therefore he stays ins the house where he feels safe, except that from time to time much younger Rosie chases his tail or wants to play with him.



The only difference from week to week is the sleeping places. This week Rosie had chosen her IKEA bed in Mr. G's room during the day, because during the night she sleeps besides me or at my feet.

Sometimes she sits on the sofa in the living room and maybe waits for a phone call, I don't know. I become jealous when I see their lives compared to mine !




Grandpa Arthur too has changed his napping place and sleeps now on a chair in Mr. G's office, and sometimes also under the chair. The chair is close to the radiator so he can warm up his old bones.



When I see him washing himself I am happy, because like a lot of old men they forget that they are also becoming dirty and they have to wash from time to time. Arthur's eyes are better but I still have to clean them and sometimes with a humid cloth I also wash his fur, but he doesn't like it very much. I should paint him in black then  I wouldn't see the dirt ! No way to give him a bath, I think he would die of the shock !

So I leave him happy and dirty (not too much) he eats 3 to 4 bags  of wet food per day and does at least 15 wee wees. I bought special litter which forms balls and so I can take it out easily. Sometimes the litterbox shrinks (at least he thinks so) and he pees outside. I found a solution I put doggy training pads around.

Otherwise he is fine, sometimes he even plays just to show that he is still OK !

WEEK

We are still sitting in the rain, somebody had told me when I was a child that angels are crying when it rains ! Then the angels have all a depression or a burn out ! They should cry all over the world and not only here and in Australia not at all, there apparently take a break !

Therefore my cats lay around and sleep or dream or whatever,  but they are not very active.





Rosie does stretching exercises on the scratching board or tries to answer the phone !



Arthur besides sleeping and eating (a lot) has discovered a new occupation ! He tries to scratch his paws in the water bowl ! As the bowl was small he managed to pull it with one paw in the middle of the kitchen and of cause water spitted all around. I thought I will be more clever and put a very big and very heavy bowl instead the little one. The result was that he splish splashed like crazy the water out of the bowlwith both paws and the whole kitchen was full of water. As he had walked on the wet floor and went in the living he left dirty foot prints all over the tiles ! I had to clean wherever he had walked ! Has anybody ever had a cat who did this ?

Now I think I will put an absorbing fabric under the bowl or I have to put boots on his paws but I doubt that he would agree !



Finally in the evening they watch TV with me, one to the left, one to the right !

NEWS

Cats and humans are very much alike especially when they reach the antique age. Arthur is still very alert when it comes to food and sleeping. When I leave my painting class in the Waterloo retirement home at a quarter to 12, a long line of mostly women are waiting already that the door opens for lunch at noon !  Sometimes they are even earlier ! 



Arthur does the same he waits and waits that his food arrives even when he has just emptied a whole bowl. Impossible to keep eating hours because his only pleasure is food ! If we don't run and fill his bowl he meows until our poor nerves can't stand it anymore.

And when he has finished in the kitchen, he keeps an eye on us if ever we would dare to eat without him !



So he jumps on the table and helps himself as soon as we have turned our heads in another direction. If the plates are empty he is very disappointed and returns to his other favorite occupation : sleeping !

Rosie is still very much alert, which is normal she is only 12 ! She loves to sit on the window sill and observe what is going on in the street.



And sometimes she turns around and looks from outside what I am doing inside in fact I am always under control !



Today before I left the house I took this picture on the left. Three hours later I came back and took the picture on the right. Honestly I can't see any difference she only changed position. She must have been very tired. Sometimes I am really jealous I would love to stay in bed the whole day and sleep, eat during night and also go for a little walk. The only condition would be the weather. When it's cold and rainy this way of life is ideal, but when the sun is shining, then I would rather sleep during night.

Arthur still continues to sleep in the same places, he is a brave cat now and goes in his litter box in the kitchen and the doggy pads help too, I put them close to the litter box so there are no accidents anymore !

His eyes are better, but not yet healed, and his appetite is unchanged. He sleeps most of the time and sometimes he goes out for a little walk. That's all I can do for him to make his life easy and happy.



Rosie too is in sleeping mode and chooses between sofa, chair and bed also always the same places. During the day now she doesn't go out, she goes out during the night. With the result that the neighbor's cat comes in and eats Arthur's left overs. It was an abandonned cat which my neighbor started to feed and let him sleep in her heated basement, she has also two cats, but apparently the food is better here so from time to time he stays in our basement. Can't chase him away ! I fake I don't see him ! Rosie doesn't agree with me, when she sees him she hisses and kicks him out !

And that's all they are doing for the moment !

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new Year !

I hope you will get lots of goodies during the human's festivities ! They spend a lot of time in the kitchen so it is very interesting for all of you !

There were not many news this week. The cats ignore the Christmas decoration completely. Balls, and garlands are of no interest




Arthur tried to help Mr. G. with the garland he had found in the basement and added to the Christmas tree.



They don't even care about the lights and continue to nap



I have got a cushion in shape of a Lady Bug from a friend for Christmas.



They just had a look on it and later slept besides the big "Lady"



The Christmas tree stands safe, my seniors are just snobbing it.



To make space I had put a ceramic cat on the chair, which Rosie appreciated and kept company.



Arthur has found a closed carton in the garage, had opened it and chosen as bed for the next  hours.

If I suggest not to eat too much, you wouldn't listen to me anyway, and certainly not Arthur ! He will terrorize Mr. G !

We still have summer temperatures even up to 25° or more ! The cats are happy, they go out and enjoy the probably not for ever lasting sunshine and warmth.




Kim is still in the bathroom, I think she wants to stay alone and not with Arthur and Rosie. As it was too much gymnastic for us to go to the toilet because she slept on the rag, I put it on the other side, where she doesn't disturb anybody and now she sleeps there. 3 times per day I bring her food and she eats it all !



In the mornings she often sleeps on the grass, or also sometimes late afternoon. She is old and takes it easy. She walks very slowly, but she still walks. I hope that one day she just falls asleep forever, and I don't have to stress her and take her to the vet !



I have got a selfie stick and tried it out with Arthur but he didn't want to smile into the camera !



Not very polite he arrived to great me when I came home !
