LOOSING HAIR

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

CATS ON TUESDAY

I had to go back to the vet with my poor Lisa ! Since a week she suddenly lost a lot of hairs. I didn't realize it right away because it arrived so quick. Suddenly she was completely bare around her neck and big fur pieces had fallen out.

The poor thing looks like if mites had been in her fur !

and her already little head seems to me smaller every day. The vet told me that it has nothing to do with the "happy pill" she has to take every day. It is the consequence of her hormonal state and age. She is like some old women who also loose their hair when they are getting old and depressed. Poor Lisa got a shot and with that her fur should grow back, hopefully. Besides that her appetite hasn't changed and she eats like a horse. She also makes little tender sounds as if she was calling kittens and purrs just sitting around without reason. Has anyone of you ever experienced such a thing ?

Rosie and Arthur are spending the days between sleeping and playing. I tried to take pictures for a new header on my blog. The result : Arthur didn't want to pose and Rosie

became upset

She hid her face

humped a back and went away ! I have to wait for another day when they are more disposed !

Pookie watched the whole situation but didn't want to join them on the bed. She still doesn't like Rosie and hisses as soon as Rosie comes near her.

Poor Lisa, I am so sorry she is
going through all of this! I am
sure her family wishes she could
talk and could tell them how to help her! ((HUGS & PURRS))

Sometimes kitties don't feel like
pictures, especially when there's
food or sleep in the future! :)

Poor Lisa! Between one thing and another you seem to be spending more time at the vet than anywhere else. Hope you both get a chance to relax soon.

Poor little Lisa, she's been through a lot. Getting older isn't for sissies! Mom says turning 53 wasn't nearly as much fun as she thought it would be; it must be the same for older lady cats, too.

Oh poor Lisa! No, I have never seen anything like this. I thought ringworm at first but I'm sure the vet checked for that and the others are fine. Hormonal changes? I haven't heard of that in cats before (but I haven't heard of much). Whatever it is, you'll figure it out! I wish I could figure it out. Rosie is hilarious, isn't she? Not a happy girl in front of that camera!!

Poor Lisa, it is tough getting old. Maybe her mews are for her kittens like older women in the nursing home want baby dolls. Because they think they are young again and have babies. I do hope the shot will restore her hair.

I love your pictures as always.

Poor Lisa, hope her hair grows back soon. Isn't it amazing what hormones can do to a female !!
Your kitties are all so beautiful, but isn't it frustrating when they don't want to pose for a picture. You seem to have more luck than most, though, as your cats always look great in their photos.
Hope you are well.
Take care, Meow

OMG! Lisa lost such a bit chunk of fur on her neck area. Luckily she is getting treatment still from your vet. I hope the shot does help her to grow back some hair.

Jess does purr with that sound quite often when she's sitting next to me. Jeremy purred loudly for a split second when he's asleep. The rest do not do this.

Well, getting a good shot of the cats for a header is not easy. You sure will waste lots of shots trying to get the perfect photo. If you need my help on that, just email me some clear photos of the kitties :)

Oh, poor Lisa. I´m sorry to read about the new trouble with her.

I cannot show more than one cat on my bed, read the reason in my post.

Aw, poor Lisa! I forget...how old is she? I've not had the experience you've had with Lisa. By the time Pepper was a senior, I'd already moved away from home; Kushna disappeared after a big accident in my apartment (long story) and we gave Paddywack to a neighbor when we moved to LI. These are all furry friends from years gone by. Of the gang here, our eldest is about 10 and I guess she'd be considered entering the senior stage?

Poor Lisa! I never heard of such a thing - except, come to think about it.... my maid eats like a horse and complains about hair loss - which she contributes to her hormonal stage and age, and she also makes little tender sounds - but usually only when we are near, hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Maybe you can tell me what shot Lisa got and I can give it to my maid too so her hair loss will stop, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Poor Lisa! Mommy's friend has a floofy girl kitty who is 12 and goes thru this occasionally. With Sydney (the kitty) it seems to happen seasonally, but the VET still says the same thing yours does. Sydney also has gotten more loving.

I can't believe Rosie is almost one! I hope Pookie starts to like her soon.

Don't worry lisa, You're still a beautiful cat. Im sure your hair will all grow back.

I have a cat shelter here in the philippines. So far we have rescued 65 cats. I have experience a lot of cases from skin disease, to hair falling out. Since we cant afford to bring every cat to the vet for cases like this, I started to do some research and experiment.

Based on my experience, Virgin coconut cream is VERY effective when it comes to treating skin disease and hair loss. It has been proven in our shelter since most of the cats that we have rescued has skin problems and hair loss.

It is a very cheap but effective alternative.

It is the first time I bumped into your blog. Very cute photos of your cat children. I was looking for clues to find out why my cat is loosing hair on her back. I thought it would be easy like some deficiency but it seems to be tricky.
Hope your kitty grows back her hair soon.

To anonymous, I think you have to go to the vet. The kitten probably needs a vitamine shot and also have the leg checked, it could be an infection or a splinter in the paw. Difficult to say.

Anonymous said...

Thank you Gattina for your help. You was right about the infection. I took her to the vet. They ran blood tests, antiboties.I was prepared to leave as long as it took for her to get better. Around 6pm 9/8/08.I got a call. The one call NOONE wants to recieve! Vet.told me she passed away. The reason, infection from not having enough antiboties in her system to fight off a tiny ant bite. The mother is the only one that can give her what she needs at birth by nursing. He did tell me that it was love and caring that kept her alive as long as she did. He said some cats are stronger at birth. But,I could tell she was so tiny and feeble. I have cried and cried as I would a child. My advice,Day old kittens need to be taken straight to the vet. Thank You so much for you help

Oh, that is very sad to hear ! but it is probably better too, the kitten would have become a not very resistant cat. Nature usually does a good selection. It is very hard when you have tried everything and still the kitty dies. But you have done what you could. Hope the other one is well ! it is so nice to see that people care that much for animals !
