BAD ROSIE BITES !
Can you imagine that this cute little Rosie here watching birds, can bite you ??
That happened to me last night ! I was sleeping peacefully in my bed, when suddenly Rosie climbed up on me and purred in my ear. Half asleep I petted her and she purred and purred like a good oiled motor. But suddenly she stopped and bit me hard in one of my hands which I had folded on my belly ! I screemed (it hurt !) and switched on the light just to see Miss Rosie's tail disappearing through the door ! What had happened ? I don't know.
In the morning I immediately googled "Biting cats" and got the answer ! Cats are biting for many reasons, but the one which fitted in my case was, they bite you when you pet them too much ! They get fat up ! I was offended ! She woke me up for cuddles and as a thank you I got bitten !
And of course today she is as sweet as usual !
That's quite new to me, I never got bitten by one of my cats ! Now I know that Rosie has "petting limits" !!

Hahahah~~~
Well....sometimes Adan bites for that reason as well~!
But I have already known for years, I know if I pet him too much he will bite to reminds me stop....
Adan still super sweet to me, just like Rosie . Hahahaha~~ Maybe it's because they are all tuxi , HAHAHAHAHA~~~
I never knew this either. I know that orphans will bite if you rub their tummy. So this is interesting and makes sense. Now I wonder how we can tell they have had enough before they bite!
Chance loves to give me "the bitey". Usually while we are in bed snuggling and I am petting him while I fall asleep. He starts to meow and meow at me and then bites me so I will stop petting him. He never bites hard though, just enough to let me know he's done and just wants to sleep.
My Bootsie, who was also a tuxeco cat, she was like that, she wanted to be petted, but only under her terms and conditions and she would indeed bite you hard at times.
Petting limits, that sounds logic. But maybe also, while half sleeping, you touched her at a spot she didn't like to be touched at?
Pumuckl is biting (well, it doesn't hurt with him, he is small and so are his teeth) when I accidentally touch his belly or paw while snuggling. He is ticklish there.
I do that to Mom sometimes when I have been petted enough! It's like OK I am done now! I try not to bite too hard though!~Samantha
Your FL furiends,
I have been bitten upon occasion by all three of my cats, only it's very rare except for with Socks. I figured that once in a while I was being bitten because I had petted too much but I didn't know that for sure.
Thanks for the information, Gattina -- you saved me a Google session! (That is, if you used Google; sometimes I wonder how reliable that search engine is.)
ohh, maybe Rosie just wanna show off its teeht for once a while;)
Fatum loves to bite my leg just to get my attention when i'm tooo busy, and funny thing is that she did that bcause copycat that behaviour from Dixie!
When Pinyi was a little girl, she often did that too just only wanna to play with me or making fun of me, but now as she gets old, she never do that again:)
-meaouwy troops-
Oh oh, Rosie is intense!
I bite if my Mom smells ham hehehe
='·'=
Hmmm, coming back here, I see you said you "googled 'biting cats'" -- I must have had a brain cramp the day I typed my first comment. Heh.
Oh my! Don't you just love how kitties bite and then run away, too?
Macy has a biting problem too, but no google search has turned up much help. We think she just doesn't understand that she's playing too rough.
Oh poor Gattina. I know that, it is the same with Luna. She puurs and purrs, I pet her and then she bites me...
Dennis never ever bites, but he had a very old sister many years ago who bit whenever she wanted to be petted. The bites got harder if she got ignored.
Chedwick bites feets of sleeping people if they move around.
Awtch! Au bites (quite gently) when he gets excited and so does Target. But not in the middle of the night, thank goodness! Maybe Rosie is a little tom-boy cat?
I loves biting mine Mummy too. She tastes nice!
Puddy does that too - if I pat for too long, I get a little nip. If I put my hand near her face sometimes she will nip it too. I know it's not a nasty bite though, because she doesn't hurt me, it's just like a little playful nip.
She still gets in trouble though - we don't encourage biting at all!
Your scream would be enough for Rosie to know what she did was wrong - I hope she came back to you later to say sorry with some head bumps (which is what Puddy always does).
