Winter days are really boring when it is not really winter with sunshine and snow, but with rather warm temperatures and always rain.
This is a view I have when I am sitting in the living room, watching TV,
and another view when I am still sitting in the living room watching TV
and when I switch off the light I have this view on my bed, Rosie not yet convinced if she would sleep besides Arthur or not.
What hasn't changed
is Arthur still food hunting and disappointed to find nothing,
and Rosie bathing her mousies during the night and I dry them on the radiator in the morning !
What an exciting life !
It is hopeless to take a picture of Pookie in action !
Each time she does something funny and I want to take a picture, she comes running towards me and tries to catch the camera ! So we are both running around in circles, with no result !
Only when she lays down, then she behaves like a real model, she purrs and poses and makes pasta with her paws !
While I was watching TV, I was victim of a stalker ! The sun had come out for exactly 45 min, which inspired Arthur to climb on the neighbor's garden shed and watch me through the window. Sometimes he was distracted by a bird, but then he starred at me again. When the sun disappeared he came down and was suddenly in the kitchen claiming for food !
Rosie found a tissue box on the table and probably thought that they would be ideal to clean her mousies. She started to pull out the tissues, but before she could empty the box, I put it away. She wasn't happy at all !
Ever since Pookie has decided that my room is not Rosie's private domain, there is a silent war, sometimes with some hisses ! Rosie hides under the chair, to jump on Pookie, but then she prefers to stay and watch with her headlight eyes, while Pookie slowly sneaks into the room and under my desk !
Kim for once came very close to sniff at my Jeans (no idea why, or maybe she detected some dog smell) I quickly took my camera and caught this picture !
Fortunately we have Arthur ! What would an old couple (don't say that to Mr. G) do without him ? We would be bored to death at home.
One of our neighbors brought us a nice "Galette du Rois" (King's cake) which is baked in honor of the Epiphany. There is a "fève" inside, a little piece which should bring you luck and if you get it without breaking your teeth, in case it's a little ceramic figurine, you also get the crown and become the king or the queen of the day. We ate two slices in the evening as desert.
The next morning I found our King's cake half eaten on the floor and crumbs all over the kitchen. Dear Arthur had taken off the aluminium foil which I had put over the cake and had done self service. I didn't find the "fève" amongst the crumbs and suppose that it landed in Arthur's litter box. That was our January 6th Epiphany celebration !
Pookie was disgusted and preferred her cat food, which Rosie had nicely decorated with a green mouse.
Sir Arthur, usually a bin fan, can also be a picky eater. Mr. G presented him Chili con Carne, which he didn't like at all as you can see from the expression on his face. For once Mr. G. had his plate all for his own.
Then Toby our grandson came for a short visit with his Dad and Arthur was happy ! When Toby is here he behaves like a kitten ! He was running behind a little locomotive and played with the little cars. These two are the best buddies !
He also takes care of Kim, our rather strange cat and checked if she was eating properly. This way I got a nice black and white picture with my new camera.
Rosie after her household scores loves to keep me company when I am "working" on my computer
and she doesn't like at all when Pookie comes into my room too. Even after nearly 7 years of life together they hate each other dearly.
I noticed some changes in my cat's behaviour I don't know if it is the fact that a new year has started.
Ever since Pookie has only a few teeth left in her mouth she can't eat dry food anymore and she became very creative to show me that she is hungry !
Rosie's food bowl is just besides my desk because she gets a special diet food. So Pookie had an excellent idea. She comes, takes a few pieces in her mouth and then spits them out which makes a loud clong clong on the parquet. That way she educated me to get up leads me into the kitchen and feed her ! Cats are clever !
She also has decided now, to sleep in Rosie's basket besides my desk ! So far there haven't been any fights.
Arthur has reinforced his duties as body guard !
Whenever I go over to a neighbor, he observes me in which direction I go. When I come out of the neighbor's house he usually sits in front of the house on the street and meows loud ! Dominique uses to say : "Your body guard is here "! And indeed Arthur escorts me to our entrance door, tail up, aware of his important job.
And as body guards always wear dark glasses, I borrowed him a pair, which he didn't keep long on his nose, as the duty was over and he put them aside, to start his well earned nap.
But as soon as he hears that Mr. G. is in the kitchen he is in full alert ! and like a flash he arrives to check what Mr. G. is doing. Here he was putting salmon slices on a plate and of course Arthur sang loud to get his share !
Rosie is more and more involved in mouse laundry or looking for adequate beds for her mousies.
The wet once out of the water bowl I put each morning on the radiator, the other once are in my slippers or now also in Rosie's food bowl. It looks as if the mouse appreciate the food.
She also has acquired a
Only Kim has nothing changed in her autistic life. She sleeps with Pookie,
eats with the others, and runs away outside through the basement when she sees me. It's a miracle that I could take a picture of her so close.
Arthur's friend little grandson Toby, had forgotten (his parents had to be honest) his little "doll" which he absolutely needs to keep him company when he wants to sleep. Arthur wanted to try out if this cute little thing really helps to sleep better, but couldn't find any difference. When he sleeps he sleeps.
