ROSIE AND HER MICE

Rosie has a strange habit. She loves little mice in fabric with little tails . The first thing she does when she had played for a while, she bites off the tail. I then find the tails in the most strangest places. She also chewes on these mice, there must be something interesting inside. But the most curious behaviour is that when she has finished playing she puts the mice in or around the bowls containing dry food ! As you can see there are two mice in front of the bowls and one mouse inside !

She only plays with these mice since a while and doesn't touch other toys. Even the feather stick is of no interest to her anymore she prefers that I throw a mouse where she can run after and then bring it back to me.

After a while the mice will disappear and even by checking the whole house and under the furniture we can't find them anymore. Only solution to keep little Rosie busy is to buy new once. That's what I did.

I had bought can food and two bags of dry food and of course the mice. In the plastic bags with the cans I had put the carton with two mice pinned on and left everything in the basement to range it later.

But after one day to my big surprise I saw Rosie playing with this carton ! I couldn't believe it she had digged it out from the plastic bag amongst the cans and brought it up the steps to play with it in the hallway, while the cleaning lady was occupied with the bathroom. We bursted out into laughter and then I took the carton away from Rosie to detach one mouse and give it to her. The carton with the other mouse I left on the kitchen table to find it a little later on the floor in the living room !

Here you see Rosie "ashamed" of having "stolen" the carton, and playing with the mouse. Arthur was also present but he rather helped the cleaning lady. He loves her !

One thing is for sure she is not a silly cat !

After all this hard work Rosie took a sun bath.

Rosie surely knows what she likes, and she likes her mice! I think it's funny that she puts the mice near the food. Maybe she thinks that they are hungry.

Rosie has a beautiful tummy! I have often thought that how they treat toys is how they would hunt. One of Amy's dogs bites their eyes out; one bites their rear-end off (I know, it's grotesque). So probably if Rosie had a real mouse, she was take the tail first. Maybe. Just an idea.

Maybe those mice have catnip in them. I call that stuff feline marijuana because it makes cats go really silly!

That is too funny! Rosie will find those mice where ever they are, even in a bag in a different room. Arthur looks so much like the white cat we used to have here, we miss him a lot.

Thanks for visiting our blog, we enjoyed yours very much.

Hi, Gattina! You asked about me being stray... yes, I showed up on Mom and Dad's back porch as a stray cat last year, but I'm an older lady cat -- the vet estimated my age at ten to twelve years old. And indeed, it's a great mystery where I came from. No one claimed me and Mom and Dad adopted me -- Mom has speculated on possibilities, such as I became a stray cat after the person I lived with before passed away or became incapacitated, but nobody really knows. Thank you for your sweet comments, *smile* -- I can hear, but my hearing is kind of strange. I don't register low, rumbly noises much, but high-pitched noises can bother me.

I feed mine toys, too. Even more, I drop them into my water. It annoys Bonnie! Mom saw me take a brand new ball in my teefs, stand over the water thinking about droppin it in, then take it to anofur room instead.

Hey, toys gotta eat too, right?

She is obviously feeding the mice so they will be ready to play the next time too. I like to take the tails off the feather butt mice, but once I do that, I loose interest in them. I like the mini-mice, those are my favorites!

hmm, why she puts the mice next to the i don't know. but putting them INTO the bowl is easy to explain. the toy then smells like food => hunting them is twice as fun. spot & cindy won't look at those toys, unless i put them in the dried food box for 3 or 4 days.

oh, and regarding my wardrobe - i'd better check for kittens - everything is possible in there *looool*

Rosie is so cute with those mice! Willow always puts my elastic hair bands in both the food and water bowls!

I do the same thing with my bear & mousie. One time I dropped my bear in my water dish and Mom had to take it and dry it out. She thought it was weird that I did that and looked it up and according to some pet "doctor" we kitties put our toys by our food because it's a territorial thing. Our food is a safe place cuz it's always in the same spot, so we put our toys there, too.

Rosie is such a big gal now! Is she bigger than Arthur already?

Rosie is very cute. :) There is probably catnip in the toy mice, and that is probably what appeals to her.
