WHEN DO CATS WASH ?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Cats have the reputation to be very clean.

They wash themselves when :

- they are wet

- they just passe their time
- they are bored
- they are confronted with a problem
- they fake not to listen but listen
- they have done something bad and only look with one half closed eye to their excited owner
- they are observing guests

But when they are really dirty they don't care !

I could see it when Arthur came back from his mechanical work under the cars and he didn't pay attention at all to the black greasy spots on his white fur.

when Lisa, no ! about Lisa there is nothing to say she IS a clean cat.

So I suggest "Wash up, you are dirty !" But of course nobody listens to me and I have to take a damp cloth and do the washing myself. It's mostly appreciated and followed by own washing. (in order to clean my cleaning off ).

That sounds right to me. Cats wash when they want. They seem to especially enjoy washing the parts of them that no one really wants to see in front of guests.

Terrific photos Arthur. :) I wash myself even after my humans have bathed me. It's important that I finish the job they've started!

Washing and preening are very important tasks. Not to be taken lightly. Our 3 go at it all the time.

I always wonder about the places they can't reach. Hmmmmmm.....

Blessing, the grey & white cat, is the only one that occaisionally needs a REAL bath. Thankfully, our Vet has a grooming facility next door.

He hates it and sulks for days. But he looks and smells purdy!!! D :)

Great photos of Arthur and his remarkable passion for cleanliness. :)

Thanks for your comment on my blog earlier. You're right, that cat was just minding his own business after all. I changed the title of my post because I realized I was pointing my finger on an innocent passerby. :)

I think cats wash after WE wash them just to show us who'se really in charge! WE after all can't do the job right! Arthur is showing everyone the right way to bathe...personally I'm happy to wash myself with a washcloth, so very happy not to have to use my tongue...
